Layout and Content

As a new HCI (human computer interface) at the user level, GEM acts as publicly available multimedia that visually and audibly communicates with the user. By switching on a personal device – such as a mobile phone, GEM enables interactivity as well as user influence on content and bonus recovery that advertisers may additionally offer through target-oriented advertising. By switching on non-commercial informative and entertaining content, GEM becomes a new communication media channel, which places it beyond all other digital signage. The GEM Interactive concept thus in reality becomes public multimedia signage, which invites people to actively participate.

 

The screen is divided into many parts that are capable of intertwining with one other as regards content. Screen delimitations change dynamically and independently, from full-screen display to any division of multiple content-related parts. Transitions may be adjusted simultaneously on the basis of desired effect and in accordance with predetermined scenarios.

 

Content


In general, the displayed content may be divided into the following content groups:

Commercial Content

  • Advertising in the form of video ads supplemented with a field which invites the user to become active via SMS messages. The user is rewarded for their participation through some benefits (SMS coupon with a code)
  • Sales promotions with SMS or MMS coupons to increase purchases of service or product
  • Sales promotions with SMS participation in prize games or draws.


Information, Education and Entertainment

  • Text, photo and video content: weather, temperature, data on the next station (public transport), “Where to go”, latest news, headlines, stock exchange index, tech news, comics, humorous anecdotes, cartoons, “Did you know”, and suchlike).
  • Voting by SMS: after 10 users have cast their votes, the system provides live feedback of the results via the screens.
  • Time dedicated to the presentation of NGOs, public institutions, organisations, offices and associations.


Interactive Content

Interactive communication with users is performed via mobile phones using SMS, MMS, mobile Internet and Bluetooth technology. Users may also publish their SMS/MMS messages on the system, participate in arcade or intellectual games via a Bluetooth connection, take part in surveys, influence the displayed content as well as contribute in virtual groups via additional mobile phone applications.
